Tree Stand - Bow Holder - Product Review - High Point Products

High Point Products manufactures and distributes numerous "HOLDER" solutions for hunters.  From archery to gun hunting and from camera holders to cup holders, they just might have the product that you are looking for.

I received a High Point Products, Tree Stand Bow Holder, just in time for bear hunting.  The holder being reviewed here is the clamp on model (no drilling).  This particular model clamps to tree stands made of 1 inch or 3/4 inch square tubing.  Another model will allow you to fasten the holder to numerous locations by drilling a 5/16 hole, yet another model will clamp the holder to 1 inch round tubing, without any drilling.  These bow holders are manufactured from acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene plastic (commonly known as ABS plastic).  ABS plastics provide a good balance of properties, toughness/strength/temperature resistance, so do not become alarmed at the absence of iron in this product (iron is heavy by-the-way).  The holder rotates 360° and locks securely every 5°; these features enable you to set the holder in exactly the right attitude for your bow and without fear of slippage.  A textured rubber boot covers the "fingers" of the holder, providing additional support and sound deadening qualities.

I attached the Tree Stand Bow Holder on my stand before taking it out in the field.  This makes perfect sense, however, I have been known to approach things differently.  No surprise, all the pieces were accounted for and the directions guided me to properly perform the task.  The stand being used is an API Grand Slam Bowhunter, climbing stand, manufactured from 1 inch square tubing.  Being right-handed, I installed the bow holder on the outboard, left hand corner, of the bottom section and adjusted the attitude so my bow was leaning slightly forward.  Easily done!  In the field and up a tree, contemplating my situation (boredom), I imagined moving the bow holder to different locations on my tree stand.  It made no sense to move it anywhere else on the bottom platform section, however, what about moving it up top onto the seat section?  I was thinking along this line because the bow would be closer to my left hand and therefore less movement would be required to retrieve the bow, if it was re-located up top.  I made up my mind to do this, however, I was not going to do this at 16 feet.  First evening out, Bears - 1, Randy 0.  A few days later at home, I'm readying myself for another night on the stand when I remember about relocating the bow holder.  I installed the bow holder, outboard, on the left hand arm rest of the upper seat platform and again adjusted the attitude so that my bow was leaning slightly forward. No problem, easily done!  Now, if I could even up that score...

Enjoy the outdoors...
